To ensure your vote is counted in the 2024 Primary Election on June 4th, follow these steps:

1. Register to Vote
In order to vote in Iowa's elections, you must be a registered voter.

This form must be turned into your local County Auditor. Find the address of your County Auditor here.
In order to qualify to register, you must be: a U.S. citizen, an Iowa resident, at least 17 years old. A person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before election day. In the case of primary elections, a person may vote if they will be 18 years old on or before the corresponding general election.
2. Request an Absentee Ballot
Every voter has the option to vote absentee by mail or in-person. Starting March 26, voters can request absentee ballots from their county auditor or download the official absentee ballot request form here.

Dates for June , 2024 Primary election
Request Absentee Mailed to home: March 26 to May 20
Vote Early in Auditor office: May 15 to June 3
Saturday June 1: Auditor open for Early voting 8:00am to 4:00pm
Ballot needs returned by close of polls on election day, June 4 by 8:00pm.
3. Receiving and Completing Your Absentee Ballot
Absentee Ballots will be mailed out after the county auditor has received your absentee ballot request form, starting May 15.
To complete your ballot, follow the instructions included upon receiving your ballot.
To return your ballot, place it in the postage-paid return envelope supplied to you by the County Auditor. It is important you use the postage-paid return envelope. Sign and Seal.
You can return your ballot by:
- Absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor by 8:00 pm on election day.
- Mail your ballot in postage-paid envelope.
- Hand deliver your ballot to your local County Auditor during business hours or any time up until 8 p.m. on Election Day, .

Or, you can surrender your absentee ballot at your precinct polling place on Election Day and vote in-person.
- If you cannot surrender your ballot, you will be asked to vote by a provisional ballot.
Absentee Ballots cannot be delivered to polling places.
